Social Groups & Camp
Rhode Island families rely on TAP's social skills groups and summer camp as critical components of their children's therapy. Access to quality therapies and social activities for children, teens and young adults with ASD continues to be limited. Without opportunities to develop social skills in a supported environment, individuals with ASD are often excluded and isolation for them and their family members increases.
TAP’s social programming fills a critical gap and fosters a sense of community among autistic individuals and their families. Participants not only gain valuable knowledge and skills but also develop close and lasting friendships.
Family Navigation & Support
The Autism Project's Family Support Team is a trusted resource for parents and caregivers of children with ASD and other developmental challenges. It can be isolating and daunting to receive a diagnosis, navigate brand new systems of care, and learn strategies to support a loved one with ASD in daily life - often, all at the same time.
Our Family Support Team understands because they’ve been through it: they are parents of children with ASD and professionally trained to support parents at each step in the journey.
Training & Consultation
The Autism Project’s Training and Consulting Team works with school districts, schools, administrators, and teachers. They take an innovative, hands-on, experiential approach to modeling strategies to support individuals with ASD and social-emotional, communication, or regulation challenges in the school setting, and to coaching educators and administrators as they learn and implement them.

- Nationally, 1 in 59 children had a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by age 8 in 2014, a 15% increase over 2012.
- ASD is the fastest growing developmental disorder in the United States.
- According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) are a group of developmental disabilities that can cause significant social, communication and behavioral challenges. People with ASDs handle information in their brain differently than other people.
- Autism Spectrum Disorders are “spectrum disorders.” That means ASDs affect each person in different ways and can range from very mild to severe.
