A Legacy of Giving from the Rotary Club of Bristol, RI

As the Bristol Rotary Club approaches its 98th year in service to communities that reach across and beyond Bristol, Rhode Island – its guiding principle “Service Above Self” has stood as a navigational beacon throughout the years. The Autism Project is just one of the hundreds of organizations that have benefited from charitable grants, volunteer service, in-kind (non-cash) donations and leadership from the club’s membership. This past year alone the Club donated nearly $120,000 to more than 30 charities. The Autism Project (TAP) is honored to be among the beneficiaries of the Bristol Rotary Club Foundation. For the past three years the Club stepped up as the Presenting Sponsor of TAP’s annual Imagine Walk which takes place each spring. The walk brings the autism community together for a day of fun, fellowship and fundraising.

Sponsorship of the Imagine Walk is not the first time Bristol Rotary has supported TAP and the thousands of people with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders) across Rhode Island and neighboring states. Our partnership dates back to 2015 when the club and leadership at TAP began a mission to open a satellite location in Bristol to serve families in the East Bay. Efforts to create a new location were thwarted by Covid-19 as learning and working in-place became the norm. The lessons learned during Covid resulted in a series of on-line, on-demand, learning modules to explore autism for parents, caregivers, teachers, clinicians, and family members, which are still in use today. Without the support of the Bristol Rotary Club, we wouldn’t have stretched our thinking and our capabilities to create these new tools and resources.
