Blair Popkin

Behavioral Health Trainer

What I do at TAP:

My name is Blair Popkin, and I am a Trainer here at The Autism Project. I have the honor of working under the amazing Training Manager, Ariana DeAngelis, and am responsible for assisting in the delivery of trainings, workshops, and webinars centering around autism. Our goal is to educate, support, and inspire professionals with understanding the autism diagnosis and provide proactive strategies, in efforts to promote inclusiveness to communities all over the globe. As my father would say, "When you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life," and I have the privilege of living that philosophy each and every day.

My professional bio:

I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology and over 20 years of experience working with children with various cognitive, behavioral, and developmental complexities. I worked as a Behavioral Health Consultant for a school district that was struggling to meet the needs of students with autism, and other neurodivergence. In this role, I was responsible for assessing students' needs, and trained staff on how to effectively execute individualized educational and behavioral support plans. I also worked as a National Trainer for a large autism organization, where I trained new direct support staff to prepare them with working with clients on the autism spectrum, as well as their families. My most prestigious position, however, is being a mom. This role has been the most challenging, as well as fulfilling, and I will carry the lessons I continue to learn from my daughter with me each and every day, as I strive to be an advocate for other families, while working for The Autism Project.
