The Autism Project hosts sensory-friendly Santa event in Johnston
(WJAR) — A local nonprofit held a sensory-friendly Santa meet-and-greet event in Johnston on Sunday.
The Autism Project said it welcomed autistic children and their families for a calm visit with Santa.
The annual event features a visit with Santa in a controlled environment -- without bright lights, loud music or long wait times, officials said.
The meet-and-greet was held between 10 a.m. and noon at 1516 Atwood Ave.
Johnston police officers also passed out toys.
