CVS Golf Classic Celebrates 20 Years

WOONSOCKET, RHODE ISLAND (May 8, 2018) –With some of the biggest names in golf slated to appear at Rhode Island Country Club, the CVS Health Charity Classic Event Series returns June 21 - 25 as one of the largest charitable events in Rhode Island. The Charity Classic has donated more than $21 million to area nonprofits since 1999 and will celebrate 20 years of giving back in 2018.

“We are excited to celebrate 20 years of great golf for great charities,” said Eileen Howard Boone, Tournament Chairperson for the CVS Health Charity Classic. “We are grateful to the golf professionals who come out each year to support our nonprofit community and proud to host a series of events that everyone in our home state can enjoy.”

This year’s golf tournament will be a one-day tournament featuring 18 of the nation’s top golfers. On Monday, June 25, six PGA TOUR, six PGA TOUR- Champions and six LPGA Tour professionals will take to the greens of Rhode Island Country Club in teams of three. Each team will be made up of one player from each respective Tour. The top two scores from each hole per team will be counted towards its final score. The lowest team score at the end of 18 holes will be named the Champions of the 2018 Charity Classic.

The CVS Health Charity Classic Event Series will also include:

  • Crave RI – Kicking off the 2018 event series, this two-day, family-friendly culinary celebration featuring Rhode Island’s finest will include 100 restaurants and more than 150 beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverage profiles. The food festival will return to the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in downtown Providence on June 21 and 22. Enjoy sample tastings from: Matunuck Oyster Bar, Tallulah’s Taqueria, Waffle, Newport Vineyards, Narragansett Beer and many more. All proceeds from the event will support charitable organizations across Southern New England.   • Pepsi Celebrity Pro-Am – The CVS Health Charity Classic has once again partnered up with New England sports teams to bring celebrity athletes to the Charity Classic. The Patriots, Celtics, Bruins and Red Sox will all be represented at the second annual Pepsi Celebrity Pro-Am on Sunday, June 24 at the Rhode Island Country Club. You can expect to see the likes of Troy Brown from the New England Patriots and Tim Wakefield of the Boston Red Sox. Admission to the event is free.

Single day tickets for the 2018 CVS Health Charity Classic are now on sale at ticketmaster.com/CharityClassic for $20 each. Children 12 and under are free with a ticketed adult. The CVS Health Charity Classic is honoring veterans by offering complimentary admission to Rhode Island Country Club for the golf tournament for all active, reserve and retired Military Service Members and their dependents. Veterans simply present a valid Common Access Card or Retired Military Card at the gate. First responders and their families also receive free admission with a valid ID.
