We strive to make our trainings as accessible as we can, and recognize that not everyone can make the trip to a community location or our office in Johnston.
Funding from HRSA in 2016 served as a catalyst for The Autism Project to develop our online learning capabilities. Check this page for online trainings and workshops from our Family Support and Training & Consulting teams.
Creating the Connections Webinar
In 2016, The Autism Project received a HRSA grant focused on increasing early access to developmental screening, evaluation, diagnosis, and supportive services for children with or at risk for ASD and other developmental disabilities and their families.
Building on our strengths in education and training, we developed a two-hour training, Creating the Connections, designed to:
- Increase awareness of the early signs of ASD and other developmental disabilities.
- Promote developmental tracking as a pathway to early identification of ASD and other developmental disabilities.
- Provide information about when, where, and how to refer a child for a developmental screening in the state of Rhode Island.
- Share strategies that support children with ASD or other challenges across their day, such as the use of visual supports.
The Autism Project's Family Support Team delivered the training to over 2,000 parents and professionals in the state, and made the training available as a free webinar for parents and early childhood professionals.
