Autism Leadership Academy

Ages Served: Young Adults

The Autism Leadership Academy (ALA) is a year long leadership development and comunity outreach program for young adults living on the autism spectrum.  These young adults will build leadership skills and contribute to the betterment of their community.

Camp WANNAGOAGAIN

Ages Served: Ages 5 - 19+

Camp WANNAGOAGAIN (previously Move, Think, Create, and Communicate)
A two-week summer camp program for children with an autism, Asperger Syndrome
or related communication disorder . Designed to provide a chance for real life
experiences and learning new leisure skills while meeting new friends,
our camp program offers a safe and fun environment

Club Jr.

Ages Served: 10-14

This pre-teen group is designed for children who can effectively communicate basic wants/needs, call attention to others, protest appropriately, and initiate simple conversations.

Club Jr. Life Strategies

Ages Served: 10-18

Participants will learn life skills in a highly structured setting. Independent skills will be the focus of this program using hands-on activities.

Coffee Talk                       (Young Adults)

Ages Served: Young Adults

Young adults with ASD are on the doorstep of a new world. As they age out of traditional programs, the opportunities to connect with their peers become hard to find.
‘Coffee Talk; provides the chance to stay connected with peers and the community while exploring issues like peer relationships, work, family and life goals. The Social Thinking curriculum provides the framework for all discussions.

Creative Expressions

Ages Served: 8-18

In our Creative Expressions group participants learn group dynamics, social rules, effective peer interactions and functional skills for group participation and conversation. Students will work together on creating specific art projects!

Curtain Call

Ages Served: 10-16

Our “Curtain Call” social group uses theatre as a medium to promote expressive communication, regulation of emotions, and social interactions.  Co-facilitated by a teaching artist from the Trinity Repertory Company and a licensed clinician, the program incorporates individual objectives for each participant and specialized ASD strategies to help adolescents and teens learn, communicate, and build self esteem.

Game on! Basketball

Ages Served: 5-18

Game On! is a group for children and teens looking to improve their functional skills in different sporting activities. In addition to emotional regulation, communication, following game rules, and team cooperation, participants will work on coordination, core strength, balance, and endurance.

Ages Served: 5-10

Game On! is a group for children and teens looking to improve their functional skills in different sporting activities. In addition to emotional regulation, communication, following game rules, and team cooperation, participants will work on coordination, core strength, balance, and endurance using Karate.

Game On! is a group for children and teens looking to improve their functional skills in different sporting activities. Ages Served: 9-12 and 13-17

Our “Girls Night Out” program fosters effective interpersonal communication skills, social development and positive self esteem among girls ages 9-17 during recreational field trip activities.

In Harmony: “Music Makers” & “Sing Together”

Ages Served: 6-16

Ages 6-9 Music Makers
Ages 9-12 Sing Together

Music, which activates a different part of the brain than speech, has been demonstrated to be an effective channel for addressing some of the core deficits of autism, including expressive communication and self-regulation capacity.

Leaps and Bounds

Ages Served: 4-10

Designed for "emerging social thinkers," this social group is led by trained professionals to teach group dynamics, joint attention, social rules/expectations, how to engage in shared experiences, and how to foster positive peer relations.

Move and groove     group B

Ages Served: 4-10

Designed to teach children the fundamental skills of play and leisure activities, this group utilizes reciprocal play activities to promote positive peer relations. Visual supports, environmental structure, and a creative curriculum will enhance children’s level of understanding and participation.

Social Thinking Academy

Ages Served: 5-18

We feel it is important to teach our students to become more efficient social thinkers BEFORE we can ask them to produce an appropriate social behavior.  Adapted from Michelle Garcia Winner and Stephanie Madrigal's work, The Autism Project’s Social Thinking Academy teaches participants to become more efficient at social thinking and understand social skills.

The Club

Ages Served: 14-19

The Club is a safe and engaging place for teens to become integral members of a group as they discuss and participate in community trips. Participants learn social communication skills required to foster friendships, and they learn appropriate social rules for effective interactions (interrupting, compromising, negotiating and listening).

Ages Served: 14-17

The emphasis of this group is to help young teens in their understanding of relationships and the development of social judgment. 

It is designed to assist young people in identifying, coping with, and appropriately expressing thoughts and feelings regarding the many confusing social concerns bombarding them in their day to day lives.
